In January 2003 Arcangel tricked Quicktime – a video viewing software – into reading the binary data that passes through his computer’s "random access memory" each day. The result is a an opaquely diaristic collection of abstract data ‘movies’ in colour or black and white (complete with audible bleeps and squawks), which chronicle at the bit level his interactions with his computer each day of the month.
Data Diaries is a 2002 commission of New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc. (aka Ether-One), for its Turbulence web site. It was made possible with funding from the Jerome Foundation.
