In the 16th century, philosopher Giulio Camillo imagined a “theatre," which in only 49 symbols could represent all the knowledge of the universe, human and divine, in a systematic, inter-related order. Helguera updates this idea by working in collaboration with community groups – in this case the Banff Community High School – to identify the community-specific icons of our “universal” knowledge, which are then exhibited as a free-standing contemporary Memory Theater.
